Position Summary

The Foreign Language Customer Representative will answer inquiries from beneficiaries, provider, and other affiliated representatives or groups regarding eligibility, benefit determination, and claims adjudication questions or problems. You will establish and maintain rapport with contacts and present a favorable corporate image while responding to inquiries within time frames required to exceed contractual standards. You will translate or coordinate translation of most frequently used foreign languages.

In this role you will:

U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to Department of Defense restrictions.

  • Translate or coordinate translation of foreign language correspondence.
  • Research and respond to telephone and written inquires, which may include inquiries referred to executive or management staff, concerning MVH eligibility, benefits, problems in claims filing and adjudication, and billing questions.
  • Apply appropriate provisions of MVH regulations, interpretations, and procedural directives to make determinations on eligibility and benefits in drafting appropriate responses to inquiries.
  • Convert foreign currencies to U.S. dollar amounts.
  • Obtain and analyze claims data to determine specific problem area, including external communication to obtain data.
  • Collect and record data for Customer Service records and computer analysis.
  • Submit claims for adjudication, correction, payment, or review as appropriate.
  • Deal tactfully with people in a wide variety of situations to convey a favorable corporate image.
  • Inform supervisor of system problems when identified, researching problems to provide backup data and examples when needed.
  • Communicate with inquirer to determine appropriate authorization or referral of services.

You should have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years of experience in customer service or related field.
  • Ability to speak and translate a foreign language.
  • Ability to learn medical and insurance terminology
  • Ability to learn MVH Claims regulations, benefits, procedures, and on-line systems
  • Effective mathematical skills to accurately convert currencies

In addition, we prefer:

  • 2 or more years of prior health insurance experience, i.e. Claims Processor, Customer Service Representative, or Billing Representative with fluency in a foreign language.
